The Business Brokers of Florida (BBF) is a Non-Profit professional organization providing business brokerage and consultancy services to Buyers and Sellers of businesses in the State of Florida. The organization has been serving the public since 1999. The BBF has committed to provide five scholarships for high school graduates or College/University/Technical School attendees worth $2,000 each that meet the requirements and criteria below.
Eligibility
- Candidate must be the child or grandchild of a current member of the BBF, AND
- Candidate must be a senior graduating the year of the scholarship application OR
- Candidate must be enrolled and attending a College, University or Technical school
Criteria
Candidates will be assessed on the following criteria:
- An essay in writing (~500 words) with the following topic: “What are your aspirations for becoming an Entrepreneur and what industry would you select?”
- Evidence of academic status such as GPA, SAT and/or ACT and/or school transcripts.
- Letters of recommendation and involvement in school and/or community activities and organizations.
Procedures & Documentation
- Applications and supporting documents must be received ON ONE FORM by May 31, 2024 to qualify; incomplete submissions will not be considered. All questions must be answered completely.
- Two letters of recommendation (from non-relatives):
- At least one letter must be from a High School Teacher, Principal or Assistant Principal, College Professor, Dean or Assistant Dean. The letter should speak to the character, integrity and/or uniqueness of the student.
- One letter from a Civic Organization, local community leader, Athletic Organization, or Religious Organization outlining the work and contributions that candidate has made within their organization
- Copy of High School/College Transcript and Activity Sheet. The Activity Sheet should reflect school and community activities, as well as any awards and recognition you have received in these activities.
- Applicants may be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
Candidates will be assessed on the following criteria:
- 2 Letters of Recommendation
- Transcripts
- Activity Sheet
Notification
The BBF Scholarship Committee will notify applicants of their status by June 17, 2024. Scholarships will be presented at an Awards Ceremony, TBD. The winner may read his/her essay during the ceremony or a video may be played with the BBF member parent or grandparent present.
Education Postponement
If the winner chooses to postpone his/her college education, the scholarship may be reserved for up to one year from the date of graduation.
