Barry Berkowitz

Dr. Barry Berkowitz has the professional and practical experience and knowledge to provide a series of business brokerage and M&A services that far exceed current expectations of most in the industry. He and his team at Bekowitz Acquisitions understand execute the complex processes selling and buying businesses, and most importantly, know how to manage the human side of each transaction. His company help buyers and sellers successfully reach and many times exceed their goals.

Barry joined the BBF in 1999 and Joined the IBBA in 2002. He earned his Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation soon after, and then the Merger & Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) designation from the M&A Source. Barry currently serves as Chair of the IBBA Board of Governors. He also served as the Chair of Education (2017-2019) and the first Chair of the IBBA Affiliates Council (2015-2017). Barry received the prestigious Tom West Award in 2015. He is a Fellow of the IBBA as well as a Fellow of the M&A Source. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Tom West Award. In 2023 Dr. Berkowitz earned his Lifetime Master CBI designation.

Barry is a licensed Real Estate Broker and is President of Berkowitz Acquisitions, specializing in the purchase and sale of Technology, Manufacturing, Education and Healthcare businesses. He served as numerous officers of Business Brokers of Florida. Barry received the Honorary Member Award of the BBF and Exceptional Dedication Award by the BBF in 2023.

Dr. Berkowitz started his career as a scientist and then a manager of materials engineering at Exxon. He published extensively and holds several patents. Barry received his BES in Engineering, and his MS and PhD degrees in Materials Sciences from Stony Brook University.
